Do you know...
... what it feels like to sit quietly in your blind while the sun rises over the water, watching the birds pitch into your spread ? Or maybe you prefer to be deep in the woods listening for the crackle of leaves under the pressure of that monster buck? As a young boy growing up with a strong family tradition of hunting and fishing, I, too have spent countless days in the outdoors. Now I have the privilege of passing that same tradition down to my own sons.
My boys would be the first to tell you that before planning any hunting trip to the woods or the water, I check the wind. The wind, while unseen, is often the single factor that can make or break the hunt. It can push the birds to land on the other side of the lake, making a clean shot impossible. It can whisper the vague scent of "human" and scare off that long awaited buck. On the worst of days, it can blow my stalled motor far from the boat ramp. On the best of days, the wind can pull the birds right into my spread or disguise my scent as that big buck approaches.
Yep...the wind is an odd thing...unseen, completely out of my control, yet impacts how the day turns out in the end.
God's presence in our life can be like that...unseen, explained and often unexpected. But make no mistake, His presence is REAL, it affects us in all we do and we can choose to prepare ourselves for "the best" of days or we can spend our time working against His ultimate plan for us.
God chose to give me a "wake-up" call to recognize His plan and presence in my life. It has become my passion to share my experience with others so that they may experience God's presence, not only in the great outdoors, but in our everyday lives.
"You make known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand." ~ Psalm 16:11
